It is not often that the ABA Journal has much to say about us canines, but I was pleased to read the article entitled “How much is that puppy in the window?” discussing that there are new laws cracking down on puppy mills and pet shops. Finally, around the country, state and local legislatures are passing laws aimed at shutting down the large commercial pet breeding operations that, no doubt, impose inhumane living conditions on us, as well as the puppies that fill the pet store windows. Hopefully, the animal welfare advocates will continue to gain ground, although I am sure that the money hungry pet mills will try to derail this virtuous undertaking.
