Condominium associations that either have FHA recertification dates approaching or have been considering applying for FHA certifications are out of luck during the current federal government shutdown. Guidance issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development states that applications should not even be sent in during this time. With no end in sight to the current standoff in Washington, condominium associations can expect to be negatively impacted by the shutdown.

Veterans Administration approvals can be pursued, as the VA has received a separate appropriation of funds to remain open.
